So on Friday I posted the collages from Week 6 and today I’m giving y’all Week 7. This is the week when I really felt myself growing in my style and making some real waves. I started getting more political with a lot of these. It was a nice way of channeling out these emotions. If you’d like to learn more about ways you can help the Black Lives Matter movement, check out this article!
This was inspired by that Pepsi ad from a couple years ago starring Kendall Jenner. The one that was supposed to end racism. Yeah… So with the news at this point focusing on the “riots” I wanted to address this through art.
I really love flowers and black women. Those are just my two favorite elements of art. I found the quote online and it sat really well with me.
This is one of my favorites. I love the asymmetry of it.
More flowers and black women. Y’all see the theme.
Another one of my favorites. Janelle Monae gives off revolution vibes. I actually outlined the eyes with the white gel pen but didn’t like how it looked so I added that strip over her eyes. It definitely adds to the theme and sits really well with the quote.
I think I just love all of these pieces from this particular week.
I just love this so much. The color scheme, the accents, the juxtaposition is just *chef’s kiss*
